As Administrative Professionals week comes to a close, we would like to thank everyone from organizations all over Eastern Canada who participated and attended in ACAP 2019. Before we close the curtains on this celebration and turn our attention towards 2020’s conference, we’d like to share some of the highlights and takeaways from our sessions this year.
The 3rd Annual Atlantic Conference for Administrative Professionals kicked off with a inspirational keynote from Olympian and World Champion kayaker, Karen Furneaux. Karen imparted valuable advice, that she lives by: you don’t have to strive to be a world champion in order to feel accomplished in your life, you need to recognize the things you accomplish every day that make you a winner.
ACAP was jam-packed with all sorts of Breakout Sessions this year. Lessons on self-improvement and stress management were attended by our admin delegates with exceptionally busy schedules. Our business themed sessions taught techniques on scheduling, management, and achieving maximum productivity, for our delegates seeking to improve their skills and take on
more. We included a line of Excel workshops in this year’s agenda due to popular demand, and boy were they a hit with our new and recently hired admin delegates. Those who attended these sessions will be returning to work as bona fide Excel experts.
Finally, for our eager admin delegates hunting down promotions, we hosted various speakers with experience in leadership. Sessions in the leadership track coached our delegates on: how to position yourself for a move into a leading role, how to use assertiveness to gain the respect of your team, how to become more of a critical thinker, and use constructive criticism for the betterment of your co-workers and yourself.
Special guest and Canadian stand-up comedy all star, Debra DiGiovanni, closed out a long day of learning with intense hilarity, followed by a well-earned cocktail reception and snacks.
ACAP’s mission to drive learning and showcase the true value of our hardworking admin community was a resounding success this year. Big thanks to our conference sponsors who helped us make all of this possible. We hope to see you again next year, and for those of you who missed us this time, sign up for our email list to receive our deals on early registration as well as a chance to win free attendance in 2020!
