EPTOR 2019: What To Expect

Ontario Marks Emergency Preparedness Week from May 5-11

In one-week, emergency preparedness specialists from health care organizations will converge in Toronto to network with peers, learn from each other, and improve their organizations’ ability to respond to disasters.

The 3rd annual Conference on Emergency Preparedness for the Health Care Industry (or EPTOR as we like to call it) will take place at the BMO Education & Conference Centre, housed on the Toronto Western Hospital Campus (part of UHN), and on the first floor or the world-class research centre: the Krembil Discovery Tower.

  • Code Silver (individual with a weapon on premises) at Kingston Health Sciences Centre
  • Code Black (bomb threat on premises) at Credit Valley Hospital
  • Code Orange Responses to Toronto van attack; Danforth shooting; Humboldt Broncos hockey team accident; carbon monoxide leak at a Montreal elementary school)
  • Session on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) – presented through Skype by NHS London’s Emergency Preparedness, Resilience & Response (EPRR) Lead, Peter Boorman, who has recently been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his 16-year career in Emergency Preparedness Resilience & Response during which he led the NHS in London’s to some of the most difficult challenges and tragedies that shook the capital
  • Incident Command Systems (IMS) – Real World Adaptation
  • The Cyber Threat Landscape in Canadian Health Care
