Healthcare Transformation Lessons from Ireland

In Canada implementing a modern EHR has dominated the technology change capacity for more than a decade. Recently, both our EY Canada and EY Ireland colleagues have been connected through their work supporting composable platforms built on open standards.
Interestingly, Ireland has not yet got on the ‘EHR modernization bus’. Yet, in both countries we have found ourselves pursuing very similar aims to support the development of new data-centric architectures.
In our conversation we will explore why these paths likely have converged from despite very different starting points and think deeply about what this means for the future of Healthcare IT.

Dai Mukherjee is a leader in EY’s Health Care Consulting practice with over 19 years of consulting experience. Dai has deep expertise in large-scale digital transformations across hospitals, ministries, and banks.
Dai has proven capabilities in strategy development, business case development, governance models, technology procurement, change management, and program management. Additionally, Dai collaborates with clients to leverage exponential technologies such as AI, blockchain, and robotic process automation.
Dai has extensive experience working with both public and private sector clients in health care, financial services, and energy and utilities across Canada, India, the US, and China. Dai has led multinational and multidisciplinary teams, serving clients both as an advisor and a service provider.
Dai holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, India.
Connor Cleary

Connor Cleary is a Partner in EY’s National Health Care Consulting practice. Connor has experience leading health system transformation locally and internationally – including most recently in Ireland.
Connor leverages her clinical experience and deep sector knowledge to support strategy development, target operating model design, governance model design, and clinical change management. Connor’s has extensive experience working with multidisciplinary care teams and across health organizations to design integrated care pathways and implement digital solutions at scale.
Samuel Bishop

Samuel Bishop is a Manager in EY’s Technology Strategy and Transformation team with over five years of experience in digital health initiatives. Samuel is well-versed in global digital health trends and stays updated on the latest tools and techniques.
Samuel has worked as a clinical data lead, handling HL7 v2.3, HL7 v3, and tabular data for an Azure-hosted FHIR service. He has created architecture blueprints, implementation guides, and data architectures. Samuel has supported decision-making and transition planning through logical operating model analysis and has led strategic reports on healthcare collaboration opportunities. Additionally, he has developed blueprints and roadmaps for executing digital health strategies, engaged with healthcare data experts, and produced assessments to help his clients achieve their digital health goals.
Samuel holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
