𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁

Presenters from Bayshore HealthCare, Hawkesbury and District General Hospital, and Scarborough Health Network shared insights on their Leadership and Employee Engagement strategies:

 

  • Leaders should be aligned with their org. and trained beyond just managing to truly lead their teams.
  • Establishing trust critical for building engagement, all staff should feel safe to contribute in their roles and speak up.
  • It’s worth developing the leadership capability framework with succession planning and continuous growth.
  • When it comes to org. change like new scheduling, rewards, or communication, leaders must welcome staff feedback.

𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆

The CAMH team shared details on their TIDES program (Trauma-Informed De-Escalation for Safety and Self-Protection):

  • TIDES is designed for all levels of staff, from CEOs to frontline workers, focusing on preventative strategies, trauma-informed care, and collaborative de-escalation.
  • TIDES prioritizes reducing risks for both healthcare workers and vulnerable patients.
  • CAMH’s Simulation Centre plays a key role in training, offering realistic scenarios and accountable spaces for enhanced learning.
  • Partnership and customization are at the heart of TIDES, ensuring organizations can integrate sustainable safety practices tailored to their needs.

𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

Runnymede Healthcare Centre presented on improving employee engagement:

 

  • A staff engagement survey helped Runnymede identify five leadership competencies that could help boost engagement, & effective communication stood out as a key driver.
  • Leadership rounding was introduced, and it helped them ask staff purposeful questions on well-being, challenges, tools, and recognition.
  • For accountability, Runnymede implemented a Stoplight Additionally, peer mentoring was introduced, making leadership rounding a collaborative effort, and transparent feedback channels ensured ongoing engagement.
